Airport Coach Transfers at 16 Airports

From Cairns to Hobart and Perth to the Gold Coast, sixteen airports have a page. Each shows where a charter coach picks up, whether it has anywhere to wait and the drive time to the centre.

Three airports publish a coach waiting area

Sydney's is on Ross Smith Avenue, called the Bus Holding Area. Brisbane sends coaches to its Central Parking Area near Nancy Bird Way, and Gold Coast to a holding area reached from May Bradford Drive. Melbourne and Perth publish bus zones; Hobart and Launceston use a boom-gated commercial lane. Canberra, Darwin, Alice Springs, Townsville, Newcastle and the Sunshine Coast publish no coach arrangements, so the coach comes forward only when the group is through baggage reclaim.

Registration before pickup

Sydney requires operators to register and fit an e-tag the airport reads at its boom gates. Brisbane asks for a ground transport operator licence, Gold Coast an RFID sticker, Melbourne a permit issued through its bus account system. The operator handles all of it. Western Sydney International is due to open in late October 2026; it has no page yet.

Questions

What details does an airport transfer need?

Flight numbers, landing times, headcount and bags per person. If the group lands on several flights, list them all.

Can the coach sit at the kerb?

Seldom. Kerbs are generally for loading on the spot, and waiting vehicles are sent elsewhere.

Can the return leg go on the same booking?

Yes. Add the departing flights and the operator quotes both legs as one job.
