Coach Hire Across Australia

Gold Coast Airport (OOL) coach and group transfers

Many school groups, sports teams and theme-park parties fly in here. Coaches have their own bays beside the terminal, and only an approved operator gets through the gate.

Bays, holding and the RFID sticker

Registered buses load in the GT Transit Area, angled bays that ring the turning circle where Terminal Drive ends. Until then the coach waits on May Bradford Drive, in the airport's own holding area for ground transport. Every bus, taxi and limousine operator registers through the airport's Ground Transport Gateway and carries its RFID sticker, and charges come out of a prepaid account on exit.

Casual access exists for operators without registration, yet it is only granted when approved and settled in advance. Turn up without that and the gate stays shut. Booking a registered operator means that never lands on you on the morning.

One terminal, no waiting out front

Domestic and international flights share one building. There is no parking in front, and the kerb is for immediate pick-up only. Walk the group to the GT Transit bays instead of waiting at the kerb for the coach to come round.

Where the driver meets you

  • Registered buses and coaches collect passengers in the Ground Transport (GT) Transit Area, a bank of angled bays around the turning circle at the end of Terminal Drive beside the terminal.

Where coaches wait

  • Ground Transport Holding Area off May Bradford Drive (vehicles must turn left into May Bradford Drive), with a GT Transit holding section alongside the taxi and rideshare holding areas.

Drive to the CBD

  • about 22 km by road to Cavill Mall, Surfers Paradise, about 30 min in light traffic

North to Surfers and the parks

Surfers Paradise (Cavill Mall) is roughly 22 km by road, around 30 minutes in light traffic. The convention centre is at Broadbeach. Movie World and Wet'n'Wild at Oxenford, and Dreamworld at Coomera, are further north, so allow extra time.

The Surfers Paradise coach interchange is still being built, and the old transit centre closed in late 2025. For now, set-down in Surfers is at hotel and venue addresses the operator confirms.

The border and the clock

The airport is right on the state line with NSW. Queensland keeps standard time all year. NSW is on daylight saving between 4 October 2026 and 4 April 2027. In those months, clocks in Tweed Heads and Byron Bay read one hour later than clocks on the Gold Coast. A group heading south should check that every itinerary time is in the right zone.

Questions

Where should the group gather after landing?

Inside, after baggage claim. Then walk out together to the GT Transit bays; the kerb itself is only for immediate pick-ups.

We fly into Brisbane instead. How far is that?

Roughly 85 km separates Brisbane Airport from Surfers Paradise. By coach that is an hour at least, and the Gateway Motorway route passes a toll point.

Is there a public option for a straggler?

Public bus 777 links the airport with the G:link tram at Broadbeach South.

We want a hinterland day. Anything to know?

Guided tours in Springbrook or Lamington need a Commercial Activity Permit from Queensland Parks and Wildlife. Tell us the plan and the operator confirms who holds it.
