Coach transfers at Brisbane Airport (BNE)
Brisbane Airport gives coaches somewhere proper to wait, which few Australian airports do. That makes group arrivals easy to time, provided you know which of the two terminals you land at.
Two terminals, two kerbs
The Domestic and International Terminals are separate buildings. At Domestic, the coach loads in the Bus and Coach area outside the multi-level car park, a space set aside for anything carrying five passengers or more. At International, every licensed vehicle shares one pick-up area on the southern side, off the Level 2 arrivals road, so expect more traffic there.
If half the group lands domestic and half international, bring them together first. The free Terminal Transfer Bus runs about every 10 minutes and takes around 5; Airtrain links the two as well.

Where the coach waits
Licensed operators wait, free of charge, at the Central Parking Area, reached from Bert Hinkler Drive. It has toilets, a cafe and flight boards. The driver watches your flight and moves across when bags are close. The loading zones are boom-gated and charged by time inside, another reason not to send the coach in early.
Collecting pre-booked passengers is restricted to vehicles listed on the airport's Ground Transport Operator (GTO) licence, and the licence holder needs Queensland transport accreditation. A bus that simply pulls into a bus zone can be fined.
Where the driver meets you
- At the Domestic Terminal, the Bus and Coach area directly in front of the multi-level car park is reserved for vehicles carrying 5 or more passengers (minibuses, buses and coaches). At the International Terminal, all licensed vehicle classes share the pick-up area on the southern side of the terminal, reached from the Level 2 arrivals road.
Where coaches wait
- Central Parking Area off Nancy Bird Way (entered from Bert Hinkler Drive): free waiting for licensed operators until their flights and passengers arrive, with toilets, a cafe and flight information boards.
Drive to the CBD
- about 16 km by road from the Domestic Terminal to Brisbane City Hall, about 20 min outside peak periods
Into the CBD
City Hall is about 16 km from the Domestic Terminal, around 20 minutes off-peak, on the tolled AirportlinkM7 or the Gateway Motorway. All Brisbane tolls are cashless. Coach parking in the inner city is only at approved places and times on the council maps, including Albert Street and Upper Albert Street. For a longer wait, the South Brisbane Depot is booked through the bus parking calendar.
Groups heading further
Plenty of groups landing at BNE are going somewhere else. Surfers Paradise lies roughly 85 km to the south: allow an hour, often more. The Sunshine Coast is 105 to 110 km north. After an early start, plan a break on the longer run.
Questions
Can a minibus use the Bus and Coach area?
Yes. At the Domestic Terminal it takes vehicles carrying five or more passengers, minibuses included.
Can the coach drop us at Suncorp Stadium on the way?
Coaches may set down and collect on Heussler Terrace but cannot wait there or idle. Event-day coach parking in the stadium's on-street zones is by application, so apply early for a big match.
Is there a train for part of the group?
Airtrain gets to the city in about 20 minutes and continues to the Gold Coast.
