Coach Charter on the Sunshine Coast
Most Sunshine Coast programs mix beaches, the hinterland and Australia Zoo. Distances are short. Parking is scarce and the hinterland roads narrow quickly, so plan around both.
Noosa and Eumundi: set down, don't park
In Noosa, Hastings Street, Noosa Parade and the national park parking off Park Road all fill at peak times, and in school holidays the park's car park may be full before 8am. A coach that sets down and leaves works; a coach that hopes to find a space usually doesn't. Agree the drop-off point and the collection time before you set out.
Eumundi Markets run on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, 7.30am to 2pm. Parking is a paid car park on Napier Road plus some council street spaces, so get there early in holiday periods and collect at a fixed time rather than waiting for stragglers.

Hinterland roads and park permits
Maleny-Montville Road and Montville-Mapleton Road on the Blackall Range are narrow and winding. Have the route checked before booking a full-size coach. For a smaller group, a midi coach or minibus is usually the better choice for a hinterland day.
If a guide leads the group on a walk inside a Queensland national park, the tour operator must hold a Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service Commercial Activity Permit. Transport alone is treated differently. Settle who holds the permit before the date is fixed.

Coach rules in Sunshine Coast
- Sunshine Coast Airport (MCY) is at Marcoola, about 11 km by road from Ocean Street, Maroochydore (about 12-15 min); Brisbane Airport is about 105-110 km (about 1.25-1.5 h).
- Australia Zoo parking is free but gets busy in school holidays, on weekends and at major events; the zoo is about a 1-hour drive from Brisbane Airport.
- Eumundi Markets parking is limited: a paid car park on Napier Road plus limited council on-street parking; arrive early in peak holiday periods.
- Noosa: parking at Hastings Street, Noosa National Park and Noosa Parade is at capacity at peak times, and the national park car park at the end of Park Road can fill before 8am in holidays; Noosa Council runs free holiday buses and long-stay parking at Noosa Junction.
- Guided tours in Queensland national parks need a Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service Commercial Activity Permit held by the tour operator; transport alone, without guiding, is treated differently, so confirm who holds the permit.
- Hinterland roads on the Blackall Range (Maleny-Montville Road and Montville-Mapleton Road) are narrow and winding; check the route with the operator for full-size coaches.
Flying in: Marcoola or Brisbane
Sunshine Coast Airport at Marcoola is about 11 km from Ocean Street, Maroochydore, 12 to 15 minutes in light traffic. The terminal has a Private Transfers zone on Friendship Avenue out the front. No coach staging area is published and the kerb is for immediate loading, so the coach is timed to the group walking out.
Brisbane Airport is 105 to 110 km away, an hour and a quarter to an hour and a half. Australia Zoo is about an hour from there, which makes it a workable first stop on the way north.
Conferences and game days
Delegates at the Twin Waters convention centre are five minutes or so from the terminal, so transfers are short. The Events Centre in Caloundra takes groups of 20 to 1,750. For rugby league or football at the Bokarina stadium, agree a pick-up point clear of the gates before the match.
Questions
Can a coach park at Australia Zoo?
Yes, and parking is free. It gets busy on weekends, in school holidays and on major event days, so aim to arrive near the 9am opening. From the airport area the drive is about 30 minutes.
Is Brisbane a day trip from the Sunshine Coast?
Yes. The city centre is about 100 km south, roughly 75 to 90 minutes each way, which leaves a full day in town.
Does Queensland change its clocks in summer?
No. Queensland does not use daylight saving, so from October to April it runs an hour behind Sydney and Melbourne. Check connecting flight times against local time when you send the booking.
