Sunshine Coast Airport (MCY) coach transfers
Sunshine Coast Airport at Marcoola is small and close to the resorts. The drive out is short. What slows a coach here is at the other end: full car parks at Noosa and narrow roads up the range.
The Private Transfers zone
On the airport's transport map, pre-booked transfers have a zone of their own on Friendship Avenue, facing the terminal, next to the taxi rank, the shuttle stop and the kerbside pick-up lane. There is no published staging area for coaches, and the kerbside zone is load-and-go. Security rules mean no vehicle may be left there, and any that overstay risk a fine or a tow.
Parking is free for the first 10 minutes in the short-term car park and for up to an hour in long-term, useful if a second vehicle meets a later flight. Have the group together before the vehicle is called forward.
Conferences near the runway
Delegates bound for the Sunshine Coast Convention Centre have the shortest trip of all: it is at Twin Waters, about five minutes away. For a conference, the coach can shuttle delegates from each arrival without going near the main towns. Maroochydore is about 11 km, 12 to 15 minutes.

- The airport does not publish a coach staging area; the terminal pick-up/drop-off zone is for immediate pick-ups and drop-offs only.

Noosa, the zoo and the markets
Noosa Heads is about 35 to 40 minutes from Maroochydore. Parking on Hastings Street, at the national park and on Noosa Parade fills at peak times, and the Park Road car park can be full before 8 am in the holidays. A coach sets down and moves off rather than hunting for a space.
From the airport area, Australia Zoo at Beerwah takes around half an hour; its free parking gets busy at weekends and in holidays. The Eumundi Markets are on Wednesdays and Saturdays, 7.30 am to 2 pm. Parking there is tight, so arrive early.
Up the range
The Blackall Range roads to Montville and Maleny are narrow and winding. Ask the operator whether a full-size coach suits the route or a midi coach is the better choice.
Questions
Should we fly into Brisbane instead?
It depends on your flights. Brisbane Airport is 105 to 110 km south, 1.25 to 1.5 hours by road, so the coach leg is much longer.
Is there a bus for one late arrival?
Yes, a public bus. Its stop is a short walk away, next to the Covered car park.
Do national park walks need a permit?
A guided tour in a Queensland national park needs a Commercial Activity Permit held by the tour operator. Transport alone is treated differently, so confirm who holds it when you book.
