Coach Hire Across Australia

Coaches First, Smaller Vehicles When They Fit

Every vehicle comes with its driver from an accredited, insured partner operator. Start with a full-size coach, and step down when the group is small or the road is tight.

Size it by people and bags

Full-size coaches carry luggage in underfloor bays; a midi coach has less room. A minibus keeps bags at the rear, and that space shrinks once every seat is taken. A full minibus with suitcases may need the next size up.

Bigger vehicle, stricter rules

Buses seating more than 12 adults at up to 8 t take an LR licence; two-axle coaches over 8 t, MR; three axles or more, HR. Over 4.5 t and built for more than 12 adults, a bus comes under the Heavy Vehicle National Law fatigue rules, and in Victoria so do some lighter ones. WA and the NT use their own schemes. A Sprinter with 12 seats or fewer, the driver's included, needs only a car licence.

Wheelchair users

Accessible minibuses swap some seats for wheelchair restraint positions and load by lift or ramp. Let us know early and we put the request to operators.

Questions

Can I pick the exact vehicle?

You pick the type. The vehicle itself is whatever the operator has free that day.

Are seat belts fitted on coaches?

Under ADR 68, heavy buses and coaches made on or after 1 July 1994 have seatbelt and seat-strength rules; route buses are exempt. In NSW, anyone over 16 riding with a fitted belt undone risks a fine.

We fall between two sizes. What then?

Price both: one coach, or a midi coach plus a minibus. Two smaller vehicles reach set-down points a big coach cannot.
