Event Coach Charter in Melbourne and Sydney
Four fixtures that shut roads and book out coaches: Vivid Sydney, and in Melbourne the Cup Carnival, the Australian Open and the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Each page gives the venue, the dates and where a group coach can drop off.
The run of dates
Cup Day at Flemington falls on the first Tuesday in November, in the middle of the Carnival. Melbourne Park hosts the Australian Open for three weeks from 11 January 2027. Albert Park stages the Grand Prix from Thursday 1 to Sunday 4 April 2027, with the country's first F1 Sprint and Victorian school holidays at the same time. Vivid lights up Sydney for 23 nights from late May 2027.
Road closures move the drop-off
Albert Park has no public parking at all during the Grand Prix. At Vivid in 2026, harbourside roads shut from 3 pm until 1 am. King Street Wharf takes NSW-accredited charter coaches for layover once their plates are registered. Set down a short walk away and agree a meeting point for the return.
Questions
When should we book?
Early. Coaches are in short supply on these dates, and an early enquiry reaches more operators with free vehicles.
Can you get us tickets?
No. Tickets are up to you. We book the coach and driver.
Will the coach wait at the venue?
Generally not. It drops the group, parks where local rules allow and returns at the agreed time.
