Cruise Terminal Coach Transfers
Five ports have a page: Sydney with its two terminals, Melbourne's Station Pier, Luggage Point in Brisbane, Fremantle and Hobart's Macquarie Wharf. Each covers coach access, the airport run and the time to allow.
Terminals decide who gets in
On ship days Circular Quay's Overseas Passenger Terminal offers neither parking nor waiting bays, and ground staff point coach passengers to their pickup. White Bay can then be reached only by James Craig Road. At Luggage Point, only the cruise lines' own pre-booked coaches may drive in; any other charter needs the port's agreement in advance. Hobart asks vehicles bigger than a 12-seater to arrange pickup with TasPorts at least two days before.
Turnaround or port call
A turnaround group comes ashore with all its luggage and often a flight to make, so the coach is sized for the bags. A port-call group wants a shore day and a firm return before all-aboard. Tell us which.
Questions
What goes in a cruise transfer request?
The ship and sailing date, when passengers come off or must be back aboard, how many are travelling and where to.
Where does a driver wait at Station Pier?
Drivers are required to wait in the car park at the head of the pier. Passengers come out through the Gatehouse.
Can a car be left at the Fremantle terminal?
No. While a ship is in, its car park takes drop-offs and pickups only.
