Group Coaches for the Melbourne Cup Carnival
Flemington hosts the Melbourne Cup Carnival over four race days in 2026, with the Cup itself run on Tuesday 3 November. Club, workplace and marquee groups often travel as one, and a coach keeps them together both ways.
Four race days
In race order for 2026: Derby Day, Saturday 31 October; Cup Day, Tuesday 3 November; Oaks Day, Thursday 5 November; Champions Stakes Day, Saturday 7 November. Cup Day is the one most groups ask for, so settle that booking first.
Set-down and pick-up at the course
Flemington publishes no rules for coaches. The operator plans the set-down and pick-up points and sends them to you before race day. The racecourse travel notes deal with other traffic: rideshare cars set passengers down at the Main Gate. There is one taxi rank, the Main Rank, reached along Stables Drive. Ticket holders park free, and Flemington Drive off Epsom Road is the best way in.
Pick one meeting point and one departure time for the trip home, and give both to every guest in writing. At the end of a race day, a group that drifts apart is the usual reason a coach leaves late.

Train, tram or coach
The Victoria Racing Club points racegoers to the train for 2026, with Metro running direct from Southern Cross to the racecourse station whenever there is racing. The 57 tram reaches Flemington Drive, outside the main gate, but no low-floor trams work that route, so anyone with a mobility aid is better on the train.
The coach makes sense when the group starts away from the CBD: a suburb, a regional town, or a hotel with no easy station. It also suits a group with mixed ages and mobility, where one door-to-gate ride beats changing trains.

What should we send to get a quote?
The race day, the number of guests, the pick-up address and the time you want to leave the course. Say if anyone uses a wheelchair or walking frame.
How early should we arrive?
Aim to set down well before the first race so the group gets through the gates without rushing. The operator adds time for traffic near the course.
