Coach Charter for Fremantle Passenger Terminal

Fremantle is Perth's cruise port. The terminal is on Victoria Quay, about 800 m from the centre of Fremantle and about 30 km by road from Perth Airport.

At the terminal

On ship days the terminal car park is for dropping off and picking up only. Nothing can be left there for the length of a cruise, so the coach sets down or loads, then goes. Taxis and rideshare stop on Peter Hughes Drive, where the taxi rank is.

Customs, security and quarantine checks happen in the terminal building for everyone, so the first and last out can be well apart. Set the coach time for the whole group. A ship may tie up at D Berth rather than the Passenger Terminal; both are on Victoria Quay, so confirm which.

Perth Airport and the city

Allow 35 to 45 minutes from Perth Airport. The airport has two terminal precincts, T1/T2 and T3/T4, about ten minutes apart by road, so check each airline before the pick-up is fixed. Coaches load at the coach bays in each precinct, in the zone for their size.

Western Australia has no toll roads. Loading zones in the Perth CBD are for goods vehicles; a coach cannot use one even to let passengers off. For a CBD hotel, the operator settles a legal stop in advance.

Fremantle council maps its tour coach bays, with time limits on some and none on others. At Fremantle Prison, coaches have four bays: a pair at the prison itself and a pair on Parry Street. Rottnest Island ferries leave from Fremantle and take about 25 minutes. The island is car-free, so the coach meets the group again at the ferry terminal.

Western Australia applies its own fatigue rules instead of the Heavy Vehicle National Law. For a long run such as Margaret River, about three hours each way, the operator plans the driver roster to suit.

Questions

Is there a shuttle from the train station?

When a ship is turning around, yes. A free shuttle links Fremantle station with the terminal roughly every 20 minutes, starting an hour after berthing and finishing around 4 pm. It suits passengers with light bags.

Where do passengers leave cars during the cruise?

Not at the terminal. Long-stay cruise parking is in Zone 3, where Victoria Quay ends to the west, or in a city car park such as Kings Square. A coach from home or the hotel removes the question.

Can one coach do a Fremantle walk and the airport run?

Yes, if the timings allow. Bags ride in the underfloor bays while the group walks the West End. Let the ship clear first, then add the tour.
